Literacy and Numeracy Awards
The NLNW Awards provided by the Australian Government are made to schools
K-10 that demonstrate excellence in teaching literacy and / or numeracy. Please
note that the NLNW Awards are for results achieved, not for proposed plans.
In Tasmania, the judging panel can nominate a government and non-government school for a $10
000 Excellence Award and three $5000 Highly Commended Awards. However, the
State Steering Committee may choose to supplement these awards, depending on the
quality and number of applications received.
It is imperative that you check the submission guidelines and eligibility prior
to developing a written sumbission.

APPLICATIONS CLOSED ON: Friday 12 May 2006. Judging in

and discuss the benefits of participating in them with your staff.
Information sessions will be held in the South, North and North West during the
week beginning Monday 3 April to support schools to write their submissions.
Examples of previous, successful submissions will be shared as well as
information about data collection and presentation. Venues and times will be
advertised via Infostream.
