Key Events

There are two significant national events taking place during NLNW in which schools across Australia can participate.

  • Reach for the Stars is an innovative, national numeracy event developed by the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers (AAMT) and supported by the Australian Government. This is a mass-participation event promoting numeracy in schools. In 2006 students will answer the question: How fast is your class? http://www.aamt.edu.au/projects/reachforthestars/2005/

  • National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS), is an exciting initiative of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), and emphasises the importance of young children (aged three to eight) learning to read and enjoying the experience. A children’s book will be read simultaneously across the country during NLNW.
