What are the celebration grants?
In conjunction with National Literacy & Numeracy Week, all schools in
Tasmania (both government and non-government) may apply for a Celebration Grant
of $1000 for individual schools or $2500 for a cluster. These grants are to
conduct a school/cluster based project or activity with a numeracy and/or
literacy focus. The grants are a state initiative designed to support schools to
showcase literacy and numeracy activities, with a local emphasis. These must be
undertaken to coincide with National Literacy and Numeracy Week held August
28-September 3, 2006.
Please note schools can form clusters of three or more schools.
What sort of project is suitable?
These grants can be used for a range of literacy and numeracy purposes.
In previous years successful submissions have included:
- staff/ parent/community professional learning activities;
- celebratory and community based events; and\
- creating and sharing resources with members of the school community.

When will I know about my submission?
All applications will be judged by the National Literacy and Numeracy Week
Steering Committee. Names of successful schools/clusters, along with the title
of their submission, will be posted on the website by August 7, 2006 to provide
enough time for successful schools to proceed with planning. The $1000
(individual school submission) and $2500 (cluster submission) will be
automatically lodged in the successful school's resource package.
