What is Bridges?

Bridges is a comprehensive training program and literacy package for
students in the first three years of schooling who require additional
assistance.

Key Features

  • One-to-one intervention
  • Delivered by trained Literacy Assistants
  • Daily Program (4 days)
  • Flexible program lasting 3 - 30 weeks
  • Emphasis on reading development and word discovery

Where does the program fit in?

Additional assistance is an integral component of the Early Years Literacy Program.

Reading Recovery is one such program that is highly recommended. However, there may be children that are unable to access Reading Recovery but still require additional assistance.

Why can't some children access reading recovery?

  • Reading Recovery is only available to children in their second year of schooling.
  • Children requiring additional assistance in Prep and Year 2 miss out.

The Bridges program provides an effective, flexible and simple program for such children.
