Assessment

Throughout this series of Teacher Resources, examples of assessment as, for and of learning are included as appropriate. See Effective assessment for an explanation of these assessment terms.

The Teaching Notes section provides the context for assessment at various points during this learning sequence.

Assessment of students' collages
Assessment of student's reflections on focus questions
Assessment of students' Indonesian proficiency

Assessment of students' collages and explanation of them:
Assessment as learning, and assessment for learning

Considering both the collages and students' explanations, assess the extent to which students:

  • identify the key features of their subject's personal identity
  • select images and icons that represent those features
  • experiment with using appropriate Indonesian in creative ways
  • use correct spelling and punctuation where appropriate
  • clearly explain their ideas about the relationship between culture and personal identity.

At the end of their work on this learning sequence (which may be include some of the activities in the Extension activities section), ask students to reflect on the focus questions displayed earlier and try to answer those questions individually.

Assessment of student's reflections on the focus questions:
Assessment of learning

Considering all the students work in this learning sequence, especially their response to the focus questions, assess the extent to which students understand :

  • that ‘Culture’ is made up of the beliefs, rituals and practices of a particular community

  • how identity is open to change and is shaped by heredity and social and cultural experiences

  • understand, recognise and respect uniqueness, diversity and distinctiveness in themselves and others.

View the Key Performance Measures (KPMs) for Indonesian Yr 6/7 for Siapa saya? (in Word or PDF).

A 'master' (blank) versions of the KPMs for Indonesian Yr 6/7 is available in the Resources section for teachers to adapt to the assessment of other tasks (in Word or PDF).
