Menonton video

View some video segments showing more details about a child's life in Indonesia. (See Offline Resources section for suggestions).

Mari menonton and A Look at Indonesia have teacher's notes accompanying the video, and suggest some activities and exercises to support the content of the video segment. A total of five short video segments could be suitable. Four video segments could be suitable from Belajar Bersama.

As students view a video segment, have them take notes about the things they see or hear that are similar to their lives in Australia, those that are different and things that they find interesting. Give students a copy of the SDI sheet (in Word or PDF), adapted from PMI (Plus, Minus, Interesting). Discuss.

What things are similar? What does that tell you about basic human values?

What is the effect of some of the differences - on personal identity or national identity?

Would you like to live in Indonesia for a while? Why or why not?

If an Indonesian student came to your area to live, what would be the biggest changes for them? What would you need to do to make them feel welcome?
