| The strength of this learning object
is in modelling how to present information on the web in a variety
of different genres. The four projects are very diverse in terms of
language presented, and you wouldn't necessarily expect students to
work through all four projects.
The greatest
engagement with language learning will occur if there is an
authentic reason for students to create a web project. Increasingly
it is possible to find 'epals' in Indonesia, through sites such as
epals http://www.epals.com/community/ and others. (See Resources section.) Otherwise
students may wish to work collaboratively in Indonesian with other
Australian students learning Indonesian, or simply explore the web
projects as a springboard to finding out more about Indonesia or
thinking about Australian culture.
The Teaching Notes
are organised into four sections:
|
- Awareness raising -
Introductory or Pre-teaching activities
- Making connections - Building
connections between new and prior knowledge, and between
Bahasa Indonesia and Bahasa Inggris
- Production - Using the
learning object
- Reflection and feedback
Production and reflection are not
sequential, but instead are cyclical. For each learning activity,
there will be one or more periods of reflection and feedback. This
informs the language program for both student and teacher.
Extension activities offer
suggestions for follow up activities.
