Aussie Fact Files: Presenting local delicacies

Have students brainstorm some of the foods or products locally grown or produced in your area. Are local 'delicacies' important in the community? How and why?

Ask students to create fact files in Indonesian to introduce those goods to Indonesian students. (These could be exchanged with a buddy class elsewhere in Australia or an e-pal class in Indonesia).

Design the fact file format. What headings will you have? What other information could be included? For example, when that food is eaten, its average price, a recipe featuring that food.

Access the fact files in Mari kita makan to support students, or give students copies of the fact file scripts from the Resources section to support them in writing the Indonesian.

Fact files could be published within your school or on the school intranet, or be sent to another school.
