Teaching notes
This learning object was designed to be challenging for Grade 8
students with prior language experience, and is demanding in its
language content. As for any learning object, it is important that the
teacher is familiar with this learning object before students use it.
The four tasks allow for different levels of language competence. The
teacher could allow students to choose the task they are most interested
in, or could allocate different tasks to different students. Students
may not complete all four tasks in one language
lesson.
Students should work in pairs or small groups, and have access to
online or offline dictionaries.
The Teaching Notes are organised into four sections:
-
Awareness
raising - Introductory or Pre-teaching activities
-
Making
connections - Building connections between new and prior knowledge, and
between Bahasa Indonesia and Bahasa Inggris
-
Production -
Using the learning object
-
Reflection and
feedback
Production and reflection are not sequential, but
instead are cyclical. For each learning activity, there will be one or
more periods of reflection and feedback. This informs the language
program for both student and teacher.
Extension activities offer suggestions for follow up activities.
