Teaching notes

This learning object is designed to support students in thinking about their own personal identity and how it is influenced by the culture in which they live - through the values, attitudes and behaviours of friends, family and the wider community.

Students also explore the similarities and differences between Indonesian and Australian cultures, and develop an understanding that it is important to consider what might happen if a particular course of action is undertaken.

The Teaching Notes are organised into four sections:

  • Awareness raising - Introductory or Pre-teaching activities
  • Making connections -  Building connections between new and prior knowledge, and between Bahasa Indonesia and Bahasa Inggris
  • Production - Using the learning object
  • Reflection and feedback

Production and reflection are not sequential, but instead are cyclical. For each learning activity, there will be one or more periods of reflection and feedback. This informs the language program for both student and teacher.

Extension activities offer suggestions for follow up activities.
