Security is a shared responsibility with the monitoring contract being provided under a central contact as are standards and guidelines for system installations and guard response services.  Sites are responsible for the on site maintenance of their system and management of their local site issues.

It is important that your site contact information is kept up to date at all times and corrected when staff are on leave or otherwise not available.

Monitoring

The Department has a state wide monitoring contract that monitors most of the security systems around the state and also provides a central point for site contacts and emergency services after hours.

Guard Services

The Department of Education has established a list of approved contractors from which Tasmanian schools and libraries can select their preferred supplier.  In order for service providers to remain on the list they should comply with the Approved Security Contractor Agreement (Part B) [Word 105Kb]
Guard services should be undertaken in accordance with the General Performance Requirements - Security Services (Part C) [Word 93Kb]

Installation and Maintenance of Security Systems
