Site Protocols For ContractorsRounded Rectangle: Help Centre:  1800 816 057
On-Line Works Request

Inform the Site

When contractors visit a site they are expected to comply with the protocols below.  These are generally built into all maintenance and construction contracts and are recommended for use with contractors that sites commission directly.

All contractors are to report to Administration reception or office on arrival and advise:

        1. Why they are there

        2. What they will be doing

        3. Where they will be working, and

        4. If possible, approximately how long the job will take

        5. When the work is complete.

Security

Should the contractor need to leave the site to obtain parts etc the site office is to be advised. It is important that areas of a building not be left unattended and/or unlocked without the site office being informed. The site manager may not require this on all occasions and will advise accordingly.

If a job is to take more than one day to complete then the site manager may agree to different arrangements.  For example it is common on larger projects for the contractor to assume responsibility for security of the area in which they are working, and to have pre-determined parking and access arrangements.

Noise and Disruption

Contractors as with all visitors are expected to conduct themselves on site in an appropriate manner.  They are a guest of the site and should behave accordingly.  Smoking is prohibited in all circumstances.

The contractor is not to undertake work which disrupts the normal conduit of business without giving the site manager reasonable time to respond and stipulate any conditions.

The emphasis here is on both sides being reasonable.  It may be necessary to arrange a more appropriate time to undertake the works.

Visitor Log Book

Each site is required to have a visitors book at the office which visiting contractors should sign on arrival and departure unless they are a long term contract with agreed possession of portion of the site.  Sites usually require any contractors or visitors to their site to wear an appropriately worded badge denoting their visitor status.
