December Grants
The December grant has now been paid to schools. This grant represents the balance of cash left in the schools SRP. Circulars are available at www.education.tas.gov.au/admin/ff/budgetsrp/default.htm

News media and students
Guidelines on the publication of photographs and student work samples http://www.education.tas.gov.au/deis/policies/photoguidelines.htm

The guidelines and the validation reports 030A and 030DE have been updated to include the process for parental consent for the news media to photograph, record or film students. Schools can use the attached form to obtain permission until the modifications to the enrolment form in mid Term 1 2005 and the validation process are fully implemented.

SRP Salary Changes and the Salary Calculator and Budget Workbook
BSS will be holding new information sessions early Term 1 on the Salary Calculator and Budget Workbook, relief spreadsheet and changes to non-cash journals.  If you haven’t heard about or seen the SRP salary changes for next year, you should plan to attend one of the following information sessions.

Hobart College 4 Feb 9:30 - 12:00
Newstead College 3 Feb 9:30 - 12:00

Booking is not required, but it is important that everyone attends.  Further information will be sent out closer to the date.

The Salary Calculator and Budget Workbook is now available on your S: drive.  If you have any problems or concerns, please contact the Service Centre.

Contact Malcolm MacLeod (ph. 6233 5681) if you have any questions.

2005 Relief spreadsheet

The relief spreadsheet will be available in early January.  An email will be sent out closer to the time, with instructions on the roll-over process.

Online Access Centres - end of year finance procedures

Before completing the SACS finance roll-over, run the report 'Total Budget Report Grouped by Budget Centre - 901' and select your designated OAC budget centre code (usually TS55).  Print the report and keep a copy for future reference  and inclusion in the OAC's annual report to the TCO.

To set the opening balance for the 2005 year follow the procedures outlined in the SACS End of Year Procedures 2004 document on the web.  In particular the section called 'Setting the opening balances for suspense, trading and trust activities'.

Computer equipment over the holidays
Reminder - All servers and network equipment needs to be left on over the holidays but all desktops and monitors can be switched off.

Email over the break

Reminder - If you're going to be out of the office until the start of the first term in 2005, you may come back to find your mailbox is chock-a-block with email.  If your mailbox gets too big, mail will not be delivered and will "bounce" back to the sender.  As a result, you could be missing out on important mail.

To avoid this happening, it's best if you clean out your Inbox and any other folders in your mailbox before you go on leave.  Delete the unwanted messages and then make sure you empty the Deleted Items bin -- just putting mail in Deleted Items will not get rid of email; you have to empty the bin.
