Check this site for details of the next Tasmanian Readers’ and Writers’ Festival. The TWC also offers manuscript appraisal, a newsletter and on-line publication opportunities.

The Fellowship of Australian Writers - Tasmania
The Fellowship supports writers in many ways, including by organising seminars and competitions. The site contains details of these and information about meetings, newsletters and other activities.

Writer’s Digest
The site for the journal contains a wealth of material for writers. There is a free e-mail newsletter and plenty of ideas to help students and teachers with writing of all kinds.

Creative Writing for Teens
Links and original articles about all aspects of writing.

Six Strategies to Help Students Master Beginnings and Endings in their Writing
The Scholastic Site contains plenty of teaching ideas. This is a neatly packaged set of ideas mainly for primary and lower secondary students.

A collection of resources and ideas for writers.

Writer’s Resource Centre
This site is for writers of all kinds of material. It includes writing activities and exercises, information about publishing, and much more.

A Writer’s Life
Includes writing tips, good links and exercises to boost creativity.

Using the web for high-school student writers
Ted Nellen is a convert to the use of the Internet with student writers. His students create their own web pages and use them to publish their work. In this account, linked to the assignments he uses, he explains what he does and why he thinks it works so well.

Outta Ray’s Head: Writing Lessons
Ray Saitz is an Ontario teacher-librarian and English teacher who has assembled a large collection of interesting teaching ideas. Some are by Ray and some are by other teachers. Although the quality is variable, there are some off-beat and inspiring possibilities here.
