Aaron Shepherd's Readers Theatre page
The children's author, Aaron Shepherd, provides a range of scripts for readers theatre in the classroom, mainly for students in years 3  to  9. He also provides a brief run-down of what  readers theatre involves.  Scripts can be edited and printed to suit the particular needs of your students.

Aboriginal Studies  
A particularly useful site with some valuable links including ones to Yothu Yindi and Oodgeroo Noonuccal.

Biography Maker
Jamie McKenzie site that takes student through the stages of writing interesting biographies from Questioning through to Presentation.

Can Teach
Canadian teachers’ resource site with lesson plans for a wide range of curriculum areas. Take the link to English Language Arts and explore.

The Center for Critical Thinking
Non-profit site.  Teacher resources and suggestions for re-modelling some traditional types of lessons to encourage active learning and critical reflection are included.

Classroom Connect
is valuable for education-related resources, products, information and support. Their stated mission is to empower teachers to achieve their goals for students by enhancing the classroom learning experience.  The GRADES section is a huge resource of carefully selected further links.  Very valuable and should be visited.

Darryl Cagle's Professional Cartoonists' Index
This site contains cartoons, news, lesson plans, handouts and an index of American cartoonists. You will find useful visuals in the Teacher Guide page.

The Discovery Channel School
Is a large site with some useful activities and links.  Current, interesting and friendly, it is worth a visit.  Full of ideas for teachers, parents and students

Discovery School’s Puzzlemaker
Useful for both teachers and students. This site offers a range of options for making puzzles including crosswords, cryptograms, letter tiles and word searches.

EdNA The Educational Network of Australia 
This is probably the place to start any search if you want Australian sites.  You will find many links to other Australian sites including educational organisations and professional associations.  There are sections for students, teachers and other educational professionals.  The navigation is easy to follow.

Enchanted Learning
A valuable early childhood site with some interesting craft activities.  Big, colourful writing could make it worthwhile for instructional texts in early childhood classes.

Internet Connections: Language Arts. 
This worthwhile American site has a long list of links.  A quick scan will find lesson plans, ideas for teaching, proformas and other useful things.  You could spend many hours exploring the offerings through a site like this using the organisers of  "reading", "writing" and "reference".  The "create characters" section, for example, could help high school teachers who want to direct students to information to help narrative writing.

A very useful site full of ideas on how to use the internet effectively.

Sofweb: Key Learning Area English
Part of the huge Schools of the Future site with links to all learning areas.  There is a lot of information for those who can spend the time searching this extensive and valuable teaching resource.

Story Arts Online
This site is designed to help teachers and students to explore the art of storytelling. It includes lots of stories, activities and readings.

Teachit - Teaching English Online
Developed in collaboration with NATE, this site has a wide range of valuable English teaching resources.

Tribes TLC  
Tribes TLC is a cooperative approach to teaching and learning that can be used within classrooms and school communities.  This site gives a brief explanation of the Tribes approach and an introduction to the author of the Tribes  book, Jeanne Gibbs.  There is also a product catalogue that includes books, buttons and even t-shirts!
