ABC Australian Broadcasting Corporation   
This website is very worthwhile for teachers and students. Through the ABC Schools Television Website you will have instant access to information on programs and resources. This includes current schedule and program information, summary of new programs, resources and information to support the programs.

Adcritic
This advertisement showcase is basically for industry professionals but is widely used by others too. As well as providing enjoyment, it can be used by students analysing advertisements.

‘The Age’ Education Site
This site includes an extensive range of resources for teaching about the media.

ATOM Australian Teachers of Media 
This site is a useful one for English teachers.  Scanning through will find some useful notes and approaches to teaching film as text even though the actual films chosen might not be useful.

Australian movie site    
Andrew L. Urban's site.  Content includes news, features, information about the making of Australian films, reviews.  It is updated weekly and is a good point of contact for information about recent Australian movies.

The Blockbuster Movie
This site introduces teachers and students to the phenomenon of the blockbuster movie – its history, characteristics and influences.

Children’s Advertising and Gender Roles
The American National Institute on Media and the Family site contains a number of fact sheets and further references for students on advertising. This particular page contains information about advertising and gender stereotyping, and there are many other similar summaries of media issues.

Drew’s Scripts-O-Rama    
This is an amazing site listing and linking to hundreds of film and television scripts on the World Wide Web.  As well as scripts written for films, there are also some transcripts others have taken from the final screened versions and sometimes draft scripts. It’s a fascinating resource for teaching about how films are developed, for investigating particular films, for teaching script-writing.....and so on..

Film Australia.
Information about new releases and past productions, teaching notes, purchase details.  Film Australia has produced films based on texts such as  Jeannie Baker’s collage works and documentaries about authors such as David Malouf, as well as many other thought-provoking films.

Film Australia’s Online Resources
This site gives teachers access to a range of video clips from the Film Australia archives.

Greatest Films    
This is a large site full of relevant information for teachers and students. The site includes useful information on film genres.

iNK, Interactive News for Kids
Part of the News Limited site, this section is a useful ‘web-based set of tools which allow you and your students to author, produce and publish your own on-line news publication.’ It guides teachers and students through all the steps needed to produce a publication, using any available technology. The intended end product is publication on the site itself, but parts of the process can be used to create publications for other purposes. The site is easy to use and suitable for students from about grade 5 to grade 12.

Internet Movie Database    
This site has information on thousands of films. It has been developed in association with amazon.com and is similar in style and navigability.

Learn Online    
This is the ABC's education section. It has many features including 'Behind the News', 'Games', 'Open Learning' and other worthwhile educational resources.

Mars Attacks.    
Rich site based on Tim Burton's science-fiction comedy, Mars Attacks.  It features lots of production information about how the movie was developed and created, including information about special effects

Media Awareness Network    
This is an excellent Canadian site with resources for teachers, students and parents.  Includes some great teaching ideas and lesson outlines for grades K-12.

The Mercury Newspapers in Education
This Tasmanian site is a great resource for students and teachers. It includes teaching ideas, links, and an archive of past NIE material produced for students.

PBS Teacher Source  
This web site has search facilities for teachers by grade level and curriculum area.  It also has information about copyright.  Mainly useful for American teachers but you might find something relevant.

State Media Library

The Learning Centre (http://www.actf.com.au/learning_centre/introduction.htm) is the Australian Children's Television Foundation's (ACTF) searchable online resource of over 200 lesson plans, worksheets, study guides and interactive teaching kits  based on their popular programs and aiming to support media literacy and multiliteracies teaching. Developed for use in primary and secondary schools, all learning activities support the Essential Learnings.
