A.A. Milne
Although aimed at a younger audience, Winnie the Pooh stills enthuses older readers. Because of the multitude of sites available, they make a good starting point to develop internet based literacy skills.

Allan Baille
Allan Baille’s official web site. Biographical information, FAQs and information about his many published books.

Alyssa Brugman
This site has been written and designed by Alyssa Brugman for aspiring writers. It includes information on her novels Finding Grace, Walking Naked and Being Bindy.

Andy Griffiths
A visually stimulating site with a number of pages including some published student writing, email contact, activities and jokes. Teacher’s resources for his books are available and extracts and complete short stories to read online.

Australian Authors and Illustrators
A great site with multiple links. A must for teachers and students.

Australian Authors and Illustrators for Young People
A comprehensive site with information on Australian authors and illustrators, including links to teaching notes, author interviews and author and illustrator web sites.

Authors
A part of Kathy Schrock's Web site,  this list of authors and illustrators on the Web serves as a starting point for those needing access to authors'  web sites.  Even though it is American there are a number of Australian authors such as Paul Jennings.  Great if you want some biographical information about writers and illustrators and links to authors' sites.

Betsy Byars
Biographical information and a focus on some specific titles, biography, writing tips and FAQs.

Brian Jacques
A Redwall site that is graphically stunning and includes enormous amounts of information on the author and the Redwall characters and volumes. Includes a number of crossword puzzles that test reading knowledge and comprehension.

Curriculum Materials Information Service from the WA Education Department Australian A-Z listing of authors with very brief biography details and lists of published works.

Colin Thompson
Own site with a number of pages that covers his life, interests, works, collaborations and email contact. Click here for this site.
A beautiful site, full of information about the author and his books, as well as tips for writing and "stuff" to download. Click here for this site.

David Harris
Site includes author profile, book blurbs, teaching activities and competitions, and email.

David Rish
Information about well-known Tasmanian young adult writer, David Rish.

Dean Koontz
The Random House site for Dean Koontz features information about the author and his most recently published novels.  It also includes an off-beat interview and a web ring that readers can join.

Duncan Ball
Selby’s Site
A varied site includes bios on both Selby and Duncan Ball and email contacts. A regularly updated writing competition, published student work and classroom activities.

Emily Rodda
This site includes biographical information about Emily Rodda, her Deltora Quest and Rowan of Rin series and writing tips for aspiring young writers.

Emma Quay
Emma Quay is an author and illustrator. Her website includes biographical details, activities for students, information about her books and valuable insights into the illustrative process.

F.Scott Fitzgerald Centenary Home Page
Produced by the University of South Carolina, this site includes biographical details, essays, articles and lots of other useful bits and pieces.  Valuable for students and teachers.

Gary Crew
This site includes biographical details, information about how the author writes and ideas for writing based on the author's books.

Gary Paulsen
The Official Gary Paulsen Web Site
A Random House site author feature. Includes biographical information, synopsis of his books and a chance to ask questions (with limited response on the site).

Geoff Goodfellow
A comprehensive web site created and maintained by Australian performance poet, Geoff Goodfellow. It includes a study guide for Geoff’s latest publication Poems for a Dead Father.

Geoffrey McSkimming
Cairo Jim Info Site
Interestingly presented biography with lots of links to related sites and a summary of his Cairo Jim books. Geoffrey participates in the Read In each year.

Gillian Rubenstein
This site includes biographical details about Gillian Rubenstein and information about her many published books.

Graeme Base
Internet School Library
Includes a publisher’s biography, book list and information on his fantasy art with links to dragon sites. Also a number of lesson plans and links to sites that relate to the themes of his books.

J.K. Rowling

Includes extracts, author info and activities.

Jackie French
Jackie French is a prolific writer for younger people. Her web site is a must read for teachers and students.

James Moloney
A user-friendly site, including biographical information, answers to common questions, information on books, record of a book rap chat as well as an invitation to join a book rap.

Jan Brett
An excellent site offering a huge range of information about her life and books, teaching ideas, student centred activities and communication opportunities. Although her work is specifically aimed at young students the depth of information relating to the writing process and illustrating techniques would suit a study by older pupils.

John Marsden  
This comprehensive site provides information about John Marsden, his books, his life and the workshops he runs.  It also includes some great links to other authors and a few other interesting bits and pieces.  It's an inviting and student-friendly site.

John Steinbeck - National Steinbeck Center
This site provides information about Steinbeck's life and works and includes links to other Steinbeck sites.

Judy Blume
Includes information on her adult and young adult writing, biographical details, ideas about writing, FAQs email contact and a Kids page focusing on her books for younger readers.

Just for Kids Who Love Books
This  site is maintained by a Canadian K-6 teacher-librarian.  Students can use it to look up author information and submit requests for author information.  It ˇs a simple, friendly site to visit.

Katherine Paterson
Lists books with brief summaries and detailed responses to FAQs plus personal information. Click here for this site.

Engaging and attractive - an unusual visual text!

Lynne Reid Banks

Margaret Clark

Michael Pryor
This site includes information on Michael Pryor’s novels and short stories for adults, young adults and younger readers, biographical details and FAQs.

Morris Gleitzman
The Morris Gleitzman Home Page
Includes personal information, a newsy update of present happenings (archived) a blurb and a chapter of each of his books to read. His Scrapbook includes a photo album, Morris’ lists, his school days, the A-Z, Around the World with a good challenge to work out the languages of the books. Email contact available, but no personal answers — some are selected to go in the Visitor’s Book.

Mr William Shakespeare and the Internet
Another huge site devoted to the life, times and works of William Shakespeare.

Nick Earls
Nick Earls’ official site includes information on his adult and young adult writing, biographical details and author interviews.

OzLIT — Children’s Books
Victorian Government site. A-Z listing of Australian children’s authors, sufficiently detailed biographies with photos and list of works.

Paul Jennings
The Paul Jennings File
Links include What’s New, Books, Awards, Free Story, About Paul, Letters, For Teachers. The What’s New offers some interesting and fun things for kids.

Peter Nicholson

This site has information and photographs, including virtual pictures. Explore the Globe up close from afar.

Shaun Tan
Brief information available from recent book rap on the Rabbits. Worth looking at site for teaching ideas.

Stephanie’s Thoughtful Spot
Stories and Pictures links to Cast of Characters with short story extracts and a word puzzle for each character, Recipes, Poems. Interactive Pooh has games to try out, e-cards to send.

Steven Herrick
Biography, examples of his poems from his different books, info on how to start writing poetry, email contact.

Tamora Pierce

The Shakespeare Resource Centre

Topher’s Winnie-the-Pooh Character Guide
Great character descriptions of all the main players from the 100 Acre Wood. There are some great extras if you scroll to the bottom of the home page: including FAQ about Pooh, Pooh Quiz, Pooh’s ABC’s, Pooh 123’s and Winnie-the-Pooh Jokes. Teachers’ ideas available.

Winnie the Pooh and Friends: An Exposition Through the Hundred Acre Woods
Three sections: The Original Exposition (a map of H.A.W. with links to all the places marked on it with reference to story events) Pooh Colouring Book (good for story starters, character descriptions and recounts) and Readers Pages. Children can submit their work (note that it has not been updated for some time)
